Although I was not around the last time the Brewers went to the playoffs, I have heard many reminiscing stories about that magical '82 season. We now have our Brewer's team to put into that little box in the back out our heads.
Although they are still a young team, the fire is back since they came to the reality of possibly losing the Wild Card spot to the Mets. A Pirates sweep followed by winning 2 of three to arguably the best team in baseball is a pretty good way to end the season.
Their knock in the past month or so has been their back-end pitching. Suppan has been hit or miss for quite some time now. Nobody knows who the #5 guy is anymore. But come playoff time, I think they are going to be in pretty good shape.
C.C.We all know C.C. is going to be solid, but the other 2 starters are still on the rocks.
SheetsSheets being Sheets is always a health concern. He boasted "No Problems" before his recent start that lasted the entire first 2 innings. I think he's actually the Brewer's #3 pitcher for the post season. He's a guy who always wants the ball, but I think Dale Sveum needs to be careful not to let Sheets' emotions lobby for too many extra innings.
Yovani GallardoIf his last start was a preview of what's to come, I think he complete's the three-headed monster. He came out of the woodwork at just the right time...hopefully.
I think their toughest series is going to be the first series against the Phillies. The Phillies are a very well-rounded team with a couple of MVP candidates. The if they prevail out of the Philly series, I like their chances in the NLCS probably against the Cubs.
