Slacker Uprising

Although I'm not a huge fan of the film, it might be considered a 'first mover'. The Mr. Moore documentary is available for free download on the web. Very interesting tactic to increase viewership.

Playoffs?

How many years...wowo

Although I was not around the last time the Brewers went to the playoffs, I have heard many reminiscing stories about that magical '82 season. We now have our Brewer's team to put into that little box in the back out our heads.

Although they are still a young team, the fire is back since they came to the reality of possibly losing the Wild Card spot to the Mets. A Pirates sweep followed by winning 2 of three to arguably the best team in baseball is a pretty good way to end the season.

Their knock in the past month or so has been their back-end pitching. Suppan has been hit or miss for quite some time now. Nobody knows who the #5 guy is anymore. But come playoff time, I think they are going to be in pretty good shape.

C.C.
We all know C.C. is going to be solid, but the other 2 starters are still on the rocks.

Sheets
Sheets being Sheets is always a health concern. He boasted "No Problems" before his recent start that lasted the entire first 2 innings. I think he's actually the Brewer's #3 pitcher for the post season. He's a guy who always wants the ball, but I think Dale Sveum needs to be careful not to let Sheets' emotions lobby for too many extra innings.

Yovani Gallardo
If his last start was a preview of what's to come, I think he complete's the three-headed monster. He came out of the woodwork at just the right time...hopefully.

I think their toughest series is going to be the first series against the Phillies. The Phillies are a very well-rounded team with a couple of MVP candidates. The if they prevail out of the Philly series, I like their chances in the NLCS probably against the Cubs.

Apple saves the day...again

The music industry has been on an interesting roller coaster over the past decade, with obstacles such like Napster, P2P, and even indie labels. But in over the past 2 years or so, Apple's role has been overlooked.

The music industry had no technique to deal with file sharing until Apple stepped in and taught them how. The iTunes store, along with the fear of viruses/poor quality files, has significantly reduced the amount of file sharing through mediums such as Limewire, and the original Napster. Other than bit torrents(not quite as user friendly), file sharing mediums have been weeded out. Although they are making bank on the media they sell, Apple deserves a hat tip from every major label in the recording industry.

Campus Safety Alert...

I got my first "Campus Safety Alert" today. It took not even 48 hours for the first crime on campus to take place. This has been an issue since I first stepped on campus almost 3 years ago. Steps have been put into place to try to fix the issue like the S.A.F.E. program. I saw quite a drop in email notifications in the second semester of last year, but it looks like the criminals have short term memory loss thus far. There are a few measures I think that the city/school/residents could take beyond what they are attempting right now:
  • City/School - Better lighted streets. The street lighting in the campus neighborhood is terrible and can be improved greatly.
  • Residents - Stop being stupid when it comes to night transportation. There are a lot of naive students around campus who think that they won't be a victim. It doesn't take much to call B.O.S.S. or walk with other people.
